Admission Requirements
General Notes
- Candidate J.D. applicants may apply to the full-time program, part-time program or both programs
- Early decision option is binding
- Incomplete early decision applications will be transferred to the regular applicant pool, but offer of admission will become non-binding
- Some factors for suitable applicant admission include: the likelihood of applicant to succeed at Georgetown, the benefit of the applicant’s education at Georgetown and the contribution of the applicant to the Georgetown legal community
- Other criteria assessed by the Admissions Committee other than academic achievement and the LSAT score: choice of major, nature and difficulty of course selection, extracurricular activities, graduate work, community contribution and professional experience

Criteria
Required Classes
- Require a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
GPA
- No cutoffs
- Median score was 3.71 for 2006
LSAT
- No cutoffs
- Median LSAT score was 169 for 2006
- LSAT scores are averaged for applicants that have taken the LSAT multiple times
- If the LSAT has only been written twice, the higher score may be considered only
- Any factors that may have affected an LSAT score should be addressed to the Admissions Committee for consideration
- Early decision applicants may still write the October LSAT
- Applicants applying for the full-time program are strongly encouraged to write the LSAT by September 29; however, December or February *LSAT scores will still be accepted
- LSAT scores of up to 5 years old are accepted

Supporting Documents
- Personal statement
- Subject matter and content is left to the applicant’s discretion
- Double-spaced; no minimum or maximum length limit
- Resume: list/ describe schools attended, work experience, extracurricular and/or community activities and academic honours
- Letter of recommendation
- Only 1 is required, but others will be accepted
- For current students academic recommendations from professors are preferred, but non-academic recommendations such as those from employers are also accepted
- Transcripts: must be sent directly to LSDAS
- Application fee of $80 US

Admission
- Rolling admission policy
- Decisions are generally made 8-10 weeks after application file completion
- Early decision letters are mailed by December 15
- For the regular full-time application deadline of February 1, a decision should be received no later than April 15
- Deferred applicants from the early decision process usually receive a decision no later than March 1
- Applicants that are denied through early decision may not apply through the regular admissions process
- Applicants may reapply in subsequent years, but it is unlikely the decision will change

- September 25: acceptance of applications begins
- November 1: first early decision deadline; application form and fee due
- November 30: second early decision deadline; complete application file with all required supporting documentation due
- February 1: final deadline for full-time program
- March 1: final deadline for part-time program

Tuition
- For 2006-2007: $37,220 US tuition for the full-time program, $1,365 US/credit hour for the part-time program
- Many types of financial aid are offered including the Law Centre Grant Aid, Federal Stafford Loans, Commercial Loans and Work Study

- 14 clinical programs are offered
- Many joint degree programs are offered between law and business, or international affairs, public health, public policy, government or philosophy; each requires its own separate application
- Prospective employers do not distinguish between full-time and part-time students
- Wide variety of courses are offered in more than 25 traditional legal fields
- Tutorial program consisting of a first year student paired with an upperclass tutor is available to provide academic support to first year students
