Admission Requirements

General Notes

  • The JD program requires 84 credits and is completed in three years.
  • Students completing the joint degree program earn both a JD and master's degree in three years and one summer.
  • The best way to apply is electronically via LSAC.
  • Duke Law School requires that foreign transcripts also be submitted through the LSAC JD Credential Assembly Service (JD CAS).

GPA

No cut-off GPA is listed, but the entering class of 2007 had a median GPA of 3.74.

Law School Admission Test (LSAT)

  • All applicants must take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT).
  • Provide the dates you sat or will sit for the Law School Admission Test (LSAT).
  • All applicants must take the LSAT no later than December 2007.
  • All scores are reviewed; greater weight may be put on higher scores.
  • If a score does not reflect your true ability, you may provide in an explanation in a separate attachment.

Admission

  • Reviewing process starts in October
  • Decisions made on a rolling basis; most admissions made before March 15

  • The application deadline for JD candidates is February 15, 2008.
  • Applicants to the JD and Joint Degree programs can start submitting on September 1, 2007.
  • Candidates are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
