  • Minimum: A 3.3 GPA out of 4.0 (or a “B+” average) over the last 2 years of undergraduate study of 10 full courses.

Other Requirements

  • Students must have selected a potential research supervisor before entering the graduate program. A list of faculty members can be found here
  • Proof of English proficiency for the applicants outside of Canada for those who English is not the language of instruction at the applicant’s current university. Candidates that fall in this category must fulfill the English requirement with one of the following minimum scores:
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL):
      • Internet-based test: 93 total
    • International English Language Testing Service (IELTS): Band of 7.0
    • Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 83 overall
    • Level 3 of the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program: Successful completion of the program
  • Note: The Department may waive the English Proficiency requirement depending on the circumstances with the approval from the student’s research supervisor.
