Admission Requirements
General Notes
- Special consideration is given to applicants whose educational opportunities have been hindered by circumstances such as cultural or economic disadvantage.
Criteria
Course Requirements
- To be eligible for admission to the first year program of the College of Law, an applicant must have a university degree from a recognized institution
GPA
- Successful applicants usually have a grade point average of 3.4 or better on a 4 point scale (approximately a B+ average or 80% average) in pre-law studies
- GPA is calculated two ways: GPA for best 2 years & overall GPA.
- A minimum of 24 credit units in the fall and winter terms per year is required in order to calculate the GPA for your best 2 years.
- Summer session and intersession classes are not counted in the calculation of the GPA for the best 2 years, but are counted towards the overall GPA.
LSAT
- Average LSAT score of a successful applicant is 159 or more.
- The February sitting of the LSAT is the last date for admission in September
- It is strongly recommended that applicants write the test earlier than Feb.
- Applicants can take the LSAT up to 3 times in any 2 year period.
- For applicants with multiple LSAT scores, the highest valid score will be used.

Tuition
- Tuition for September 2007 has been set at $6840.00.
- Mandatory student fees are $647.79, giving a total of $7487.79
- The cost of books is estimated at $1600.00
- All first year applicants are automatically considered for most entrance scholarships upon acceptance.
- Other scholarships require an application from individual students.
Statistics
- The College of Law receives between 600 and 1010 applications for 115 seats in the first year class.
- There were 1020 applications for the September 2006 class.
- Acceptance rate for 2006: 13.7%
- In the class of September 2007, the average GPA for applicants in the Regular category was 3.56.
