Program Information
Programs Leading to common law JD degree
1. English Common Law
- accepts approximately 200 entering students
2. French Common Law
- accepts approximately 50-60 entering students
3. National Program
- admits approximately 60 Canadian civil law graduates for a one year common law program
- 3 years in length (except National Program)
- Academic performance is a critical factor in the selection process.
- Also considers: extracurriculars and community involvement during university studies; outstanding qualities or achievements in previous careers; linguistic or cultural factors; overcoming challenges such as a disability or financial difficulties

- Degree: Minimum 3 years of undergraduate study or have completed 90 credits (any discipline), however; a complete undergraduate degree is recommended.
- Required Courses: none

- Average accepted GPA 2009: 3.7 (83%)
- A successful applicant has an average GPA of A-
LSAT
- The University does not set a cut-off LSAT score.
- Must be taken no later than February (but recommended by December)
- If taken more than once, the highest LSAT score is taken into consideration

Supporting Documents
- All documents must be sent directly to OLSAS and not the university.
- Personal statement - outline applicant's reasons for studying law at Ottawa U, interests, personal and professional achievements etc. (Written as if it were an interview)
- 2 reference forms: At least one must be an academic source, but two academic sources is preferred
- Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended
- NO late applications accepted
