  • All programs of study are intended to lead towards a PhD degree. Students only interested in a MA degree should not apply.

Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

  • Master's Degree: A four-year undergraduate honour's degree in Psychology or a related field
  • PhD: A thesis-oriented Master's degree in Psychology or a related field

GPA

  • Master's: Minimum grade average B+ (78%) in the final two years of undergraduate program
  • PhD: B+ (78%) in a Master's program
  • For Clinical, an overall average of A required.

  • All applicants must take the GRE General Test

Supporting Documents

  • Online application through Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC)
  • Application fee: $95 CDN
  • One copy of official transcript for each university-level institution attended
  • 2 reference letters sealed with signature across flap; fhe references form can be found here
  • All applicants must provide a detailed statement of their interests and objectives in Psychology.
  • Students must have contacted potential supervisors before applying and indicate their names on the application. A list of the faculty members can be found for each research area.
  • Proof of English Proficiency (if applicable):
    • TOEFL
      • CBT: 213
      • PBT: 550
      • iBT: 86, with no individual score below 20
    • IELTS: The minimum acceptable score is 6 out of 9
    • MELAB: 80 on each section and an overall score of at least 85
    • CAEL Assessment: 60

Timeline

  • October 11, 2012: Online application become available through OUAC
  • January 4, 2013: Deadline to submit application and all supporting documents
  • March 23, 2013: Applicants are notified of decision by email

Tuition 2012-2013

  • Canadian students: $2,170 per term (3 terms per year)
  • International students: $5,120 per term
  • Note: additional fees are not included

Funding

  • Master's:
    • Domestic students: $19,000 per year (2011-2012) for two years
    • International students: $28,000 per year (tuition is higher for international students)
  • Doctoral:
    • Domestic students: $20,000 per year for four years
    • International students: $29,000 per year
