Admission Requirements

General

Academic Requirements

  • MSc Students
    • Bachelor's degree
    • Average grade equivalent to a University of Toronto B+ or better in the last year of bachelor's degree and B- in the previous year
  • PhD Students
    • 3 Routes of Entry
      • Applicants holding an MSc degree.
        • A- during the MSc
        • B+ in the last year of bachelor's degree
      • Applicants accepted first into MSc from a bachelor's degree, and may transfer to into the PhD program
        • Conditional upon evidence of research excellence judged by the thesis supervisory committees
      • Exceptional applicants directly into PhD degree
        • A- or better in courses in ecology and evolutionary biology
        • Evidence of research potential

Tuition 2012-2013

  • Minimum $15,500 above tuition and fees
    • EEB Department adds an addition $1000 guarantee for all students
  • Domestic Students
    • $24,902
  • International Students
    • $35,312
  • These income levels are guaranteed for 16 months for the MSc program and for 4 years for the PhD program

  • One-page statement describing your interest in EEB, your goals, and your reasons for choosing.
    • List of names of potential supervisors and areas of research of interest
  • Current copy of your CV
  • 3 Letters of Reference
    • Should be submitted electronically
  • 1 Electronic or scanned transcript from each post-secondary intuition attended
    • Must be up to date
  • For International Students
    • Applicants whose language of instruction at their previous university was not English must submit TOEFL
    • GRE scores won't be required

Deadlines 2013-2014

  • Applicants for May and September 2014 and January 2015 admission will be considered on a continuous basis beginning November 1, 2013 until departmental targets are met
  • First major review will consider all applications that are completed by January 10, 2014
