Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
- Students wishing to enter the PhD program must either 1) have a 3.5 GPA in a bachelor's degree program and evidence of research ability, or 2) have completed a MSc degree or its equivalent from a recognized university.
- Students wishing to enter the MSc program must have completed a Bachelor's degree at a recognized university with a graduation average of B or better (cumulative grade point average 3.0 on all post-secondary coursework)
- Students must also secure a research position prior to admission.
- It is recommended that students contact faculty members directly to confirm the availability of a position in the field of interest and available financial support.

Financial Requirements
- M.Sc. students receive a minimum of $18,000 per year, for two years
- PhD students receive a minimum of $18,000/per year for four years.

Documents
- Complete the online Application for Graduate Studies form
- Application Fee: $90 CAN (students with Canadian transcripts) or $125 CAN (students with international transcripts).
- Provide the contact information for THREE referees, using the online system.
- Referees will be contacted through the online system.
- Official Transcripts are required from all post-secondary institutions at which the applicant studied.
- TOEFL or I.E.L.T.S. (for Applicants from countries where English is not the primary language).
- International students must have a valid Study Permit (consult a Canadian Embassy or consulate at www.cic.gc.ca).
- Curriculum Vitae/Resume
- Any evidence of research accomplishments, ie. reprints, manuscripts, conference abstracts, thesis abstracts, etc.
- Name of proposed supervisor (MSc/MPM/PhD/Applicants only)
- Brief Statement of research interest. Please be as specific as possible.

Other
- International students must submit language test scores, such as TOEFL.
- The minimum requirement for test scores is TOEFL 570 (computer based score is 230) TWE 5, TOEFL iBT 100 (internet based test), and I.E.L.T.S. overall band score of 7.5.

Financial Support
- MSc and PhD student funding from Sept. 1, 2013 - Aug. 31, 2014 will be a minimum of $19,000.
- MSc and PhD student funding from Sept. 1, 2014 - Aug. 31, 2015 will be a minimum of $20,000.
- MSc and PhD student funding from Sept. 1, 2015 onwards will be a minimum of $21,000.
