Admission Requirements
General
- Applicants can apply at either university (University of Guelph or Waterloo), depending on where their potential advisor is based
- Online application available at: www.uoguelph.ca/graduatestudies/
Academic Requirements
- BSc Honours degree in physics (or equivalent)
- Minimum B average in last 2 years of undergraduate study
Documents
- Hard copy of the online application, to be mailed to the department’s Admissions Secretary
- Statement of Research Interest and Career/Graduate Study Goals
- 3 letters of reference, 2 of which must be academic
- 1 certified copy of each previous undergraduate and/or graduate transcript
- Application fee of $85
- Proof of English Proficiency (if not a Canadian Citizen): TOEFL, IELTS, MELAB, CAEL scores are accepted
Other
- Joint program with Waterloo Physics Department (GWPI)
- 2 program types exist for a MSc: research or coursework
- Co-op program option is also available, but restricted to Canadian residents/citizens
Deadlines
- Applications are accepted all year
- Semesters begin preferentially in May or September, but January entry is also possible
- Processing and consideration time for applications takes around 6 weeks
- Applications should be submitted approx. 2 months prior to the semester of desired entry (or as early as possible)
Tuition 2018-2019
- Annual sub-total for full-time domestic students: $6,491.00 (includes tuition and compulsory fees such as Dental Plan, Drug Plan, Athletic fee, etc.)
- Estimated annual cost of living for domestic students: $18,091.00 to $23,066.00 (includes sub-total from above and cost of living expenses)
