Admission Requirements
General Notes
- Minimum = 60 semester credits must be completed by the end of the Spring term prior to entrance
- Baccalaureate degree not required, but recommended
- Official transcripts of each higher education institution attended must be sent to PharmCAS
- Four year program leading to a PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy)
- Applicants are strongly encouraged to have past experience working in a pharmacy, either as a volunteer or an employee
- Applicants with strong extracurricular records are preferred
- 520 applicants applied for 86 seats in the Class of 2011.
- Two PharmD/PhD Concurrent Degree Programs - PharmD/PhD in Medicinal Chemistry and PharmD/PhD in Pharmaceutics

Criteria
Required classes
- 1 semester in Calculus
- 1 semester in Statistics
- 2 semesters (including lab) in General Chemistry
- 2 semesters (including lab) in Organic Chemistry
- 2 semesters (including lab) in Physics
- 2 semesters (including lab) in Biology
- 1 course (including lab) in Microbiology
- 2 semesters in English composition
- 1 semester in Interpersonal Communications/Public Speaking
- 1 semester in Additional Humanities Electives
- 2 semesters in Social Science Electives
- 1 semester of Biochemistry recommended
- English composition requirements may be fulfilled by taking two English composition courses or one English composition course and two Writing-Intensive course
- UoW PharmD prerequisites may not apply universally to all universities. Applicants are recommended to email UoW at pharminf@u.washington.edu for course evaluation.

GPA
- No required minimum GPA, but applicants are recommended to have a GPA above 3.0
- Average cumulative GPA for admitted applicants is between 3.44 – 3.60
- Prerequisite GPA above 3.0 is required
- Prerequisite GPA of admitted applicants ranges from 3.0 – 4.0 and is generally between 3.44 – 3.60

- 2 required recommendation forms and optional letters of recommendation, to be submitted online
- One letter from an academic source such as professors or TAs, the second from a professional source such as employers or volunteer organization personnel

Application
- Apply online through Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS)
- Must also complete supplemental application form, including Essay and Checklist
Interviews
- Most qualified applicants are invited for an interview with three members of the Washington PharmD Admissions Committee.
- Lasts 30-45 minutes
- Assesses oral communication skills, motivation to be a pharmacist, knowledge of pharmacy and health issues
- Includes a 30 minute on-site Pre-Interview Writing Skills Assessment
- Interviews conducted from January through April

Deadlines for Fall 2009 Admission
- June 1, 2008 – Application became available on PharmCAS
- Nov. 1, 2008 – Supplemental application period begins
- Jan. 4, 2008 – Application must be submitted through PharmCAS. USC Supplemental Application must be postmarked or hand-delivered by 5:00 PM Pacific Standard Time
- Late Jan. to April – Interviews are held
- Feb. to May – Letters of admission and denial are sent

Tuition
- 2007-2008 Tuition Fees:
- For Washington resident: $13,454 per year (covering Autumn, Winter, Spring quarters)
- For non-resident: $26,098 per year
- Further fees include a one-time Health Sciences fee of $475, lab fees of $40-$60 per lab, and practicum fees of $10 per practicum
