Admission Requirements
Course and Degree Requirements
- Required for application to both programs:
- An appropriate -year University of Toronto bachelor's degree, or its equivalent from a recognized university.
- Degree: Master’s Program
- a four-year bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a recognized university
- Degree: Doctor’s Program
- Master’s degree or equivalent
- or a four-year bachelor’s degree with minimum GPA requirement
- At least B+ in the final two years of undergraduate study or an A - (or first class standing) in the final two years of undergraduate study (for direct entry into the PhD program
- Recommended Courses:
- Immunology, Biochemistry, Molecular biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics (calculus)

GPA
- Master’s Program
- Minimum GPA: 3.3 during the last two years of undergraduate study
- Doctor’s Program
- MSc degree with course grades of at least B+ or
- Minimum A - (i.e. first class standing) in the final two years of undergraduate study for direct entry into the PhD program

International Students
- Applicants educated outside Canada must submit GRE (Graduate Record Examination) scores.
- Recommended to be generally above 80th percentile
- Applicants whose primary language is not English must submit TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
- Minimum requirement is 96/120 for an overall score and 22/30 for both writing and speaking.

Timeline
- Applications are opened starting from September
- Recommended to submit all applications by February 1st for September admission
- Will be informed by March 1st
- Can ensure eligibility for all entrain awards and scholarships
- June 1st- Final date of all applications
- Applications received between February 2nd and June 1st will be evaluated
- Applicants will be contacted upon acceptance no later than July 1st
- Incomplete applications will not be evaluated
- All documents, including transcripts, online reference form, and test scores (if required) must be received via online application

2013-2014 Stipend Rates
- All successful applicants are eligible for a stipend
- Incoming students: $25,800.28
- Living allowance ($17,340) plus the cost of tuition ($7160) and incidental fees ($1,300.28)
- Students who successfully reclassify to PhD or pass their Qualifying exams: $27,840.28
- Living allowance ($19,380) plus the cost of tuition ($7,160) and incidental fees ($1,300.28)
