Admission Requirements General Notes • Only Canadian citizens may apply (unless you are the child of alumni of the University of Ottawa who have completed studies at the Faculty of Medicine) • Students may not apply directly after completing CEGEP • Program: Undergraduate Medical Education Program • Apply through OMSAS (Ontario Medical School Application Service) Criteria • Must be enrolled in a recognized university with three years of full-time studies (five full-year courses per year) in any undergraduate program leading to a bachelor’s degree • Applicants that have a “Diplôme d’études collégiales” from Quebec (CEGEP) must complete two years of full-time studies (minimum of five full year courses each year) in an undergraduate program leading to a bachelor’s degree in a recognized university Required classes • One full year course in General Biology including laboratory session • One full year course in Humanities or Social Sciences (or two semester courses in separate disciplines) • Two full year courses of chemistry (General Biochemistry without lab, General Chemistry with lab, and/or Organic Chemistry with lab) Check out this link for more information: [1] GPA • Applicants of different backgrounds have different minimum GPAs • 3rd year applicants will have 2nd year marks given double the weight as 1st year marks • 4th year applicants will have 3rd year marks given triple the weight and 2nd year marks given double the weight as 1st year marks Check out this link for more information: [2] The Medical College Admissions Test • It is not required Check out this link for more information: [3] Supporting Documents • Autobiographical sketch is required as part of OMSAS application • Additional Detailed Autobiographical Sketch Check out this link for more information: [4] Deadlines Application submission deadlines are dictated by OMSAS Check out this link for more information: [5] Tuition • Financial aid and entrance scholarships are available. • Year 1: $15 288 • Year 2: $15 215 • Year 3-4: $15 142 Check out this link for more information: [6] Statistics • 153 students admitted in 2007
