Admission Requirements

General Notes

  • Four year program leading to a PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy)
  • Offers both PharmD and PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Minimum of two years of university study required for admission
  • Ranked as the #2 Pharmacy School in the US by US News & World Report
  • 152 out of 850 students were accepted in 2008
  • Maximum of 18% of admitted students are from out of state

Required classes

  • If entering with a B.A., must have the equivalent of...
    • 8 course hours of General Chemistry + lab
    • 8 course hours of Organic chemistry + lab
    • 4 course hours Biology + lab
    • 4 course hours in Physiology or Human Anatomy
    • 4 course hours in Microbiology
    • 8 course hours in Physics + lab
    • 3 course hours in single variable Calculus
    • 3 course hours in Statistics
  • If entering without a completed B.A., must have all of the above as well as the equivalent of...
    • 9-10 course hours in the study of a single Foreign Language (up to intermediate level or higher)
    • 3 courses ( 9 course hours) in at least two different departments in the Social/Behavioural Sciences
    • 3 course hours in Philosophy
    • 3 course hours in Literature
    • 3 course hours in Visual or Performing Arts
    • 1 course hour in “Lifetime Fitness”
    • 3 course hours in US Diversity
    • 3 course hours in Global Issues
    • 6 course hours in English Language Arts

PCAT

  • Applicants must write the Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT)
  • Test must be written before October of the year prior to admission and scores should be no more than three years old
  • Scores must be submitted directly to PharmCAS (see “Application” below)
  • Average rank of admitted students is within the 85% percentile
