Program Information

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
  • 5 years in length
  • Number of applications in 2008: 254
  • Class size in 2009: 50
  • No international students are admitted
  • For the last 10~15 years, no other residents of Canada were accepted except for Manitoba residents


Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

  • Degree: Minimum 30 credit hours of undergraduate study with no grade less than C
  • Required Courses
    • Chemistry (6 credits)
    • Biology (6 credits)
    • Mathematics (3 credits)
    • Arts electives (6 credits)
      • 3 credits of 6 must satisfy the written English requirement
    • Open electives (9 credits)
  • Note – Students who have completed AP and IB programs must have completed at least one year with a minimum of 24 credit hours

GPA

  • Minimum Adjusted GPA (AGPA) of 3.50 or more is required
  • AGPAs from 3.90 to 4.50 were accepted
  • AGPA is calculated as follows
    • With 1 year of university studies
      • ( 2 x average of core courses + 3 x average of year ) / 5
    • With 2 years of university studies
      • ( 2 x average of core courses + 3 x average of the better year + 1 x average of other years ) / 6
    • With 3 or more years
      • ( 2 x average of core courses + 3 x average of the best year + 0 x average of the worst year + the average of each other years) / 6 (or 7 or 8 as appropriate)
  • If a core course has been repeated once, the higher grade will be used. If more than once, all attempts are averaged

  • Not required

Supporting Documents

  • Essay component
    • Minimum grade of 5 out of 10 is required for consideration
  • AGPA is considered with 70% weight, while essay component is considered with 30% weight
  • Official transcripts must be submitted to the enrolment services/admissions office as the year finishes
  • Online application can be found at the Admissions website
  • Criminal record check
  • Must meet English Proficiency standards
