Admission Requirements
Course and Degree Requirements
- Completion of all Pre-Pharmacy required courses
- Applicants must receive no less than a "C" (2.0) in all prerequisite courses
- No math and science courses may be taken the summer prior to beginning pharmacy school. The

- Fundamentals of Chemistry I with lab
- First Year Writing I
- Calculus I
- Spring Semester
- Introduction to Biological Science II with Lab
- Fundamentals of Chemistry II with Lab

- Fall Semester
- Fundamentals of Organic Chemistry I with Lab
- Social Science: Either Introduction to Psychology or Introduction to Sociology
- Introductory General Physics or Physics I or One year of high school physics
- Spring Semester
- Fundamentals of Organic Chemistry II with Lab
- Elementary Microbiology with Lab
- Fundamentals of Public Speaking
- Completion of core curriculum or a baccalaureate degree or higher from an accredited U.S. college/university

GPA
- 3.0 or above preferred
- The average prerequisite GPA for the 2012 entering pharmacy class was 3.57
- The average math/science GPA for the 2012 entering pharmacy class was 3.48
PCAT
- For the 2013 application cycle: The September 2012 PCAT will be the most recent PCAT scores that will be accepted
- It is recommended that students score in the 75% or above range in each of the five areas of the PCAT: Verbal, Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Analysis, Biology and Chemistry.
- The average composite PCAT score for the 2012 entering Pharm.D. class was 78%.

- Three letters of reference
- A. One letter of reference must be completed by a licensed pharmacist practicing or having practiced in the U.S.
- B. One letter of reference must be completed by an academic advisor or professor.
- C. One letter of reference must be completed by a second professor, pharmacist, or supervisor/employer.
- PharmCAS Application
- UH College of Pharmacy Supplemental Application and application fee in the amount of $100.00.
- ApplyTexas Graduate Application Form - online at www.applytexas.org and submit a printed copy
with your package
- GRE (preferred) or GMAT score – original scores submitted to
the University using code 6870 and a certified photo copy submitted along with the package
- Recommendation letters (minimum three)
- Official Transcripts (two copies of all official transcripts and
mark sheets)
- Statement of Purpose
- Resume or Curriculum Vitae (Maximum 3 pages)
- Two passport size photographs
- Nonrefundable application fee
- $25 for domestic applicants
- $150 for international applicants

- TOEFL score - original scores submitted to the University using code 6870 and a certified photo copy submitted along with the package
