Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

  • MSc program
    • 4 year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
    • Minimum B+ average in last 2 years of study or A- (80%) grade average in 12 credits in 3rd/4th years
  • PhD program
    • Masters degree or equivalent
    • Overall average grade of B+ (76% at UBC)
    • First-class bachelor’s degree with 1 year of MSc studies may be accepted (research potential needed)
    • Students lacking necessary undergraduate preparation may be admitted into a qualifying year program
    • Students with an overall A grade average in an honours bachelor’s degree may be accepted directly
  • Degrees not necessarily in chemistry, closely related fields may be accepted
