Admission Requirements

General

• Apply online at the biochem website.

Academic Requirements

• GPA of 3.0 at UAlberta or 3.3 at any other university (in last 2 years).
• Minimum GPA of 3.3 in all biochem classes taken.
• BSc in Biochemistry except for rare circumstances.
• Completion of GRE may be required (general exam plus the biochem subject exam).

Financial Requirements

• Each student is given a minimum of $17,850 per year (after tuition charges).
• Supervisors cover the tuition fee (max. of 3 years in the MSc program, 5 years for PhD).

Other

• Students with a GPA below minimum but who have the BSc in biochemistry, may be admitted to the degree program.
• Students with the required GPA, but without the background in Biochem, may be admitted to a qualifying program.
• Completing the GRE exam strengthens an application.

Deadlines

• No deadline for Canadian applicants.
• International applicants need to apply at least 2 months before the start of the semester.
