Admission Requirements
General
- Apply online at http://www.ualberta.ca/eas
- Three graduate programs offered: MA, MSc and PhD.
- The masters program requires the completion of an independent thesis.
- Applicants are accepted after a faculty member agrees to supervising.
Academic Requirements
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 in last 2 years of undergraduate studies.
Financial Requirements
- Master’s students usually get 2 years of funding.
- PhD students get 4-5 years of funding.

Documents
- $100 application fee and the application form
- 3 recommendation letters (written by professors)
- University transcript and degree certificate
- A short summary of research goals
Other
- Proof of proficiency in English may be required.
- Application decisions depend on factors such as merit, TA needs, and the ability to fund a proposed project.
Deadlines
- Deadline for the fall semester is July 1st.
- Earlier applications are considered first.
- Deadline for winter semester is November 1st.
