Program Information
- Master’s Program – a minimum of 12 semester hours of courses
- You must have a supervisor that is willing to accept you
- at least four courses, either from Earth Sciences graduate course offerings or from related graduate course offerings in other departments.
- may include up to 6 credit hours of special topics or directed studies courses.
- must complete and successfully defend a written research thesis for completion of the degree
- Doctor’s Program - a minimum of 15 semester hours of courses
- must complete Oral Candidacy Examination
- can transfer from MSc to PhD

- Degree: a bachelor’s of science degree in an honours program in the Earth Sciences (geology, geological engineering, geophysics, geomorphology, soil science, or physical geography)

- Minimum GPA: 3.0 for Master’s program, 3.5 for Doctor’s program

- Required for international students
- iBT – 88 with a minimum of 20 in each category, or PBT – 570, or CBT - 230

- One-page statement of your research interests and career goals.
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
- A minimum of three referees willing to complete a formal letter of reference. At least two of the referees should be academics
