Admission Requirements
General Notes
- Application must be submitted through AADSAS at https://portal.aadsasweb.org
- Applicants must submit transcripts, DAT scores and information on awards, extra-curricular activities, work experience, as well as a personal statement (essay)
- A four year program leading to a DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine)
- Combined 7 year BA-DDS program available
- For the 2006-2007 year, 466 students were admitted out of 3907 applicants

Criteria
- Applicants are required to hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. or Canadian college or university. Applications must include all prerequisite courses, DAT score, and a recommended GPA of 3.2 or higher.
- Applicants may also apply with 90 credits (including all prerequisite courses) and a GPA of 3.5 or higher from an accredited college or university from the U.S. or Canada.
- International students must complete a degree from an accredited U.S. college by the time of admission
Required classes
- One year (6-8 semester hours) are required including lab in each of the following:
- Inorganic chemistry*
- Organic chemistry*
- Physics*
- Biology**
- English*
- (*)Required courses included in the minimum of 90 credits.
- (**)May include a half year of genetics and a half year of botany.
- Courses in comparative anatomy, histology, embryology, genetics, physics, physiology, and mathematics are strongly recommended.

GPA
- Average GPA of admitted applicants in 2007 was 3.43. The average Science GPA was 3.34.
- A minimum GPA of 3.2 is recommended

DAT
- Applicants are required to write the DAT (either the American or Canadian version)
- Results must be no more than three years old. Applicants for admission in Fall 2009 should have DAT scores dated no earlier than 2006.
- Average score for accepted applicants is 19 on Academic, and 20 on Total Science.

Supporting Documents
- As part of the AADSAS application, applicants must submit:
- All official university/college transcripts
- One letter of reference from the Pre-Health Advisors Committee (preferred) OR
- Three letters of reference, two of which must be from senior science professors
- Non-refundable $75 application processing fee – submit via AADSAS immediately after applying
- Once invited to be interviewed, applicants must submit:
- Supplemental Application
- Color, passport–sized photograph

Interviews
- All interviews take place in person and are by invitation only
- Applications invited for an interview are to complete a supplemental application. The supplemental application is given to the applicant at the time of the interview.
- Applicants also need to provide a color, passport–sized photograph at the time of the interview.

Deadlines for Fall 2009 Admission
- May 15, 2008 – Application becomes available on AADSAS website
- September 2008 – Interviews begin (continue throughout winter)
- December 1st, 2008 – Admission notifications begin to be mailed
- Mid-January – All applicants should have taken the DAT
- February 1st – Application deadline
- February 15th – All supporting documents, such as Letters of Recommendation, should be provided
- August 15th – Admission notifications end
