Program Information

Graduate studies is a research and thesis- oriented program at the Master’s and Doctoral levels. Only full-time students are accepted.

  • M.Sc.: minimum of 45 credits, submission of a thesis, and completion of a minimum of 3 terms of residency

Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

  • Degree: B.Sc degree or equivalent

GPA

  • Minimum overall cGPA of 3.2, or a GPA of 3.4 in the last 2 years of study

Review faculty member profiles to find and directly contact a potential advisor with similar research interests (before applying or during)
Familiarize yourself with departmental deadlines and required supporting documents and apply online at: https://mcgill.ca/gradapplicants/apply/prepare Applicants can track their applications on Minerva

  • Personal Essay/Statement: 500 typed words (background, past work in intended field of interest, reasons for applying for graduate studies in Physiology at McGill; indicate faculty contacted and areas of research interest)
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Letters of reference: Two letters of reference uploaded by the Referees indicated in the student application (on official university letterhead and signed)
  • Transcripts: From each university-level institution attended (Cegep not required)
    • Upload an unofficial copy of your complete university-level academic record to date, inluding the Grading key for each transcript
    • If the transcript does not indicate that a degree has been granted, a copy of the diploma will also need to be uploaded with the transcript
    • Transcripts not in English or French MUST be accompanied by an English or French Translation
  • Additional Question: Please upload a PDF copy with a list of your potential supervisors whether you have contacted them or not yet (members or associate members of the Department of Physiology)
  • Application fee: $113.27, payable by valid credit card for each form submitted (applicants may indicate up to two programs on each form submitted).

  • September 15: application deadline for all students

Tuition 2012-2013

  • All students can expect a minimum living expense of $15,000/yr plus tuition fees and services.
  • There are various sources of financial aid – fellowships, bursaries, assistantships – to name a few.
