Program Information

Joint programs offered by the Universities of Guelph and Waterloo.
One application + one application fee = an opportunity for admission to one of two great universities.

  • Masters (M.Sc.) Degree
    • 2 years from an Honours B.Sc. degree
  • Ph.D. Degree
    • 3 years from a M.Sc. degree
    • 4 years from an Honours B.Sc. degree
  • Co-operative option allows students to work in a laboratory while studying

Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

  • M.Sc.
    • Honours Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Science
    • Minimum overall standing of 75% in the last two years
    • 4 options: Thesis program, co-operative program, or full-time course-based program, or part-time program

  • Ph.D.
    • MSc degree (or equivalent) in Science with at least a minimum overall standing of 75%
    • Direct entry from BSc also an option with at least a minimum overall standing of 80% ('A')

  • Application fee
  • Academic transcripts from each post-secondary institution attended
    • Must provide grading scale
    • Official transcripts only required once you are offered admission
  • 3 recommendation letters
    • MSc: 2 must be from an academic source
    • PhD: all 3 must be from an academic source
  • Completed areas of research interest and goals and objectives
    • Guelph: Supplementary information form here
    • Waterloo: assessed through QUEST
  • If applicable:
    • Proof of English proficiency
    • GRE. Subject GRE in Chemistry and Biochemistry are not required.
    • Proof of Immigration Status
