Program Information
- Clinician Scientist Graduate Program (CSGP)
- Designed for applicants who plan to become clinical specialists but more specifically plan careers as clinical scientists
- Allows the MD graduate to concentrate on a thesis research in Medical Sciences and allows to bridge the gap between clinical and basic medical research.
- Degree offered:
- M.Sc.
- 2 years in length (includes course work and research)
- PhD
- Roughly 3-5 years in length
- The amount of time to complete this program depends on applicant’s prior research experience and the process and success of the thesis work.
- M.Sc.
- Note that all applicants will initially enroll in the M.Sc program.
- If after one year, the applicant wishes to transfer to the PhD program as well as if the student’s Supervisor recommends such a transfer, then a recommendation will be sent to the Faculty of Graduate Studies which will be reviewed and considered

Admission Requirements
Course and Degree Requirements
- The following is required for entry in both programs:
- An MD degree from an LCME accredited medical school
- Applicant must be registered in a Canadian Royal College Accredited Residency Program, the Canadian College of Family Physicians, or hold positions as clinical fellows at a Canadian teaching hospital.
- Applicants from that are graduates from a foreign medical school are also accepted as long as they are Canadian citizens or landed immigrants residing in Canada
