Program Information
- Traditional MS Program:
- A 1-2 year post baccalaureate course of study in Vision Science leading to the Master of Science degree.
- Combined MS / OD Program:
- Students currently enrolled in optometry at The Ohio State University may simultaneously pursue an MS degree and earn both degrees within the normal period for the OD.
- MS / Advanced Practice Fellowship Programs:
- The MS degree may be pursued together with a two-year advanced clinical fellowship in one of four areas:
- Cornea and contact lenses
- Binocular vision and pediatrics
- Vision rehabilitation
- Family practice
- Note: Applicants to the Advanced Practice Fellowship programs must be graduate optometrists who are eligible for licensure to practice optometry in the state of Ohio. The goal is to provide clinician/educators with research skills in these four areas of emphasis.
- The MS degree may be pursued together with a two-year advanced clinical fellowship in one of four areas:

Admission Requirements
Course and Degree Requirements
- Must have completed a minimum of 90 credits in prescribed pre-optometry coursework
- Prerequisite Courses:
- English Composition (1 semester)
- Inorganic Chemistry with laboratory (2 semesters)
- Organic Chemistry (1 semester)
- Biochemistry (1 semester)
- Physics with laboratory (2 semesters)
- Algebra and Trigonometry (1 semester)
- Analytical Geometry and Calculus (1 semester)
- Intermediate Physiology (1 semester)
- Microbiology with laboratory (1 semester)
- Humanities (2 semesters)
- Social Sciences (2 semesters)

GPA
- GPA minimum: N/A but applicants should have a competitive cumulative GPA
GRE
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) minimum: N/A but applicants should have competitive results
Interview
- Applicants will be requested to meet for an interview after having passed preliminary application processes.
