Course and Degree Requirements

  • Degree: 3 Years
  • Required Courses
    • One full year course (or two half year courses) in general biochemistry.
    • One full year course (or two half year courses) in general mammalian (human or animal) physiology.
    • Two additional full year courses (or four half year courses) in Life Sciences.
    • One full year course (or two half year courses) in a Humanities or Social Science.

GPA

  • Minimum grade/GPA: 3.0
  • Average grade/GPA of admitted applicants 2013: 3.85
  • Minimum accepted grade/GPA 2013 (domestic applicants invited for an interview): 3.85
  • Minimum accepted grade/GPA 2013 (international applicants invited for an interview): 3.75
  • Calculation method:
    • Courses completed during the year of entry are not counted towards the GPA/The lowest academic year is not counted

  • Cut-off DAT score: NA, scores of 19 or more are considered competitive.
  • Average DAT score of interviewed applicants 2013:
    • Academic Average: 21
    • PAT: 20
  • DAT must have been written within 2 years of the application deadline.

  • Application fee of $ 250.00
  • Photocopy of proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status
  • DAT Score Report (except for candidates requesting a transfer)
  • Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended
  • A statement (max. 750 words) on paper to the Faculty to assist in assessing candidate’s qualifications if he/she wishes to do so.
  • Proof that the candidate has received the following immunizations:
    • Rubella
    • Tetanus
    • Polio
    • Hepatitis B
  • The candidate must also provide proof of a current Tuberculin Test and/or a negative chest X-ray.
  • Proof of English proficiency for candidates whose first language is not English. Either one of the following tests must be completed within 2 years of the application deadline:
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
Minimum score (paper-based test): total score 600 + 5.0 on TWE
Minimum score (computer-based test): total score 250 + 5.0 on Essay
Minimum score (Internet-based test): total score 100 + 22 on Writing
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Moedule
Minimum band: 6.5 (no band below 6.0)
  • Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB)
Minimum overall: 85 (no part under 80)

Interview

  • Interview invitations will be sent out end of February 2014
  • Interviews will be held on a weekend during the end of March – early April 2013
  • Interviews are conducted by two members of the Faculty or alumni.
  • The interview lasts less than 1 hour.
