Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

• Degree: Minimum 3 years of undergraduate study (90 credits)
  • Courses of grades with C- and lower will not be accepted
• Required Courses:
  • English Composition (Literature acceptable for 3 credits) - 6 credits
  • Biology with lab - 8 credits
  • Inorganic chemistry with lab - 8 credits
  • Organic chemistry with lab - 8 credits
  • Physics with lab - 8 credits
  • Microbiology - 3 credits
  • Biochemistry - 3 credits
  • Psychology - 3 credits
  • Sociology - 3 credits

GPA

• Average GPA of entering class: 3.56
  • Entering science GPA: 3.3

DAT

• Either Canadian or American DAT
  • 19 and above scores are considered competitive
• Required
  • If your results are unsatisfactory, you must wait 90 days to retake
• Cannot retake DAT after submitting application
• Average DAT: 20 Academic average, 21 Perceptual average

Supporting Documents

• Associated American Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS) - main form to apply:

• AADSAS fee of $227 for 1 school
• University of Michigan fee of $65
  • December 1 deadline
• Minimum 100 hours of shadowing experience and/or volunteering
• Michigan may request for additional information
• 3 letters of recommendation

Interview

• Early fall to ending winter semester interview period
  • By personal invitation specifying date and time
• 8:30 AM to 4 PM
  • Official transcripts must be sent at time of interview
• Earliest date of acceptance if December 1
  • Entering class is filled as year goes on

• Residents can verify status with University of Michigan's Residency Office
