Admissions Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

• Degree: Baccalaureate degree from an accredited university/college in the United States or Canada
• Required Courses
  • Biological Sciences with lab (8 semester hours)
  • Inorganic Chemistry with lab (8 semester hours)
  • Organic Chemistry with lab (8 semester hours)
  • Physics with lab (8 semester hours)
  • English (6 semester hours)
• Strongly recommended
  • Biochemistry (without lab)
    • May replace the required second semester of Organic Chemistry
  • Writing intensive course in humanities or social sciences may substitute for one semester of English
  • Cellular and Molecular Biology
  • Genetics
  • Statistics
  • The humanities
  • Social and behavioural sciences
• AP and IB credits may be used to satisfy the requirements
• No preference is given to applicants majoring in sciences vs non-sciences
• Preferred that the coursework be taken within 5 years of the date of application

Interview

• Early decision interviews in mid-September
• Other interviews occur every Monday and Wednesday from October 1st to March 31st
• Interviews take place at the School of Medicine’s Baltimore campus
• Each individual invited to the School of Medicine will undergo two interviews. Interviews are conducted by faculty and students, in a one on one setting.

• Aug 31, 2017: Deadline for Early Decision supplementary information
• Oct 1 - Mar 31: Rolling interviews conducted on Mondays and Wednesdays
• Oct 1, 2017: Early Decision applicants will be notified of a decision
