Admission statistics

• 29 spots are available for first year admission
  • A maximum of 23 spots for regular applicants
  • A maximum of 2 spots for indigenous students
  • A maximum of 6 spots for Special Applicants
    • Those who have recently completed related work experience
    • Those who hold or will receive a Masters or PhD diploma by time of enrollment.
• 25 of the 29 spots are allocated to Manitobians
  • Graduated from a Manitoba high school
  • Recognized degree from a Manitoba university
  • Completed a minimum of two years of study in Manitoba
  • Have been a resident of Manitoba for two consecutive years post high school.
• A maximum of 4 spaces are offered for out-of-province applicants

Course and Degree Requirements

• Degree: minimum 60 credits of university level courses
• Required Courses:
  • Intro. Chemistry
  • Organic Chemistry: 2 semesters with labs
  • Biochemistry: 2 semesters
  • Physics: 2 semesters with labs
  • Biology: 2 semesters with labs
  • English: 2 semesters
  • Humanities/Social Sciences: 2 semesters

GPA

• Minimum Core Course GPA 2016:
  • 3.60 for Manitoba applicants
  • 3.80 for out-of-province applicants
• Calculation method:
  • Adjusted GPA calculation for applicants with two years of pre-dental studies:
    • (2x average of CORE courses) + (1x average of lower year) + (3x average of better year) all divided by 6.
  • Adjusted GPA calculation for applicants with 3 or more years of pre-dental studies:
    • (2 x the average on the CORE courses) + (0 x the average on lowest year) +(3 x the average on best year) + (1 x the average on each remaining full academic year of studies) all divided by number of courses as appropriate

DAT

• Only the average of the Reading Comprehension, Biology, Chemistry and PAT scores (DAT average) from the single best Canadian English DAT of the last three years will be used in the calculation of the overall score.
• Minimum PAT score: 14
• Minimum Carving Dexterity score: 12
• Average DAT score 2016:
  • 18.66 Manitoba applicants
  • 22.33 out-of-province applicants

  • rank-ordered by an overall score based on the equal weighting of the Adjusted Grade Point Average (AGPA) (as of June 3rd of the year of application), the Canadian Dental Aptitude Test (DAT) scores, and the interview scores.
