Course and Degree Requirements

• Applicants are required to have completed a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university
• Required Courses:
  • Biology with lab – one full academic year (2 semesters)
  • General Chemistry with lab – one full academic year (2 semesters)
  • Organic Chemistry with lab– one full academic year (2 semesters)
  • Physics with lab– one full academic year (2 semesters)
  • English – one full academic year with emphasis on communication skills (2 semesters)
  • Biochemistry-one semester
• Recommended Courses:
  • Mathematics
  • Psychology
  • Humanities
• AP credits for Biology and Chemistry with a score of 4/5 are accepted
• Ap credits for Physics and English are not accepted

MCAT

• The MCAT is required to be taken by each applicant.
• Only tests taken within two years of the application cycle will be considered for admission.
  • For the 2018 entering class, applications from April 2015 and on will be accepted.
• Median / Average scores: 32 overall
  • No sub-score below 10

  • Recommendation process and forms from the premedical committee at your institution
  • Pre-medical advisor evaluation letter along with the AMCAS letter form.
  • Three letters of recommendation from a faculty member in your major area of concentration and at least one of these from a science area.

  • Offered to all Kentucky residents and select non-Kentucky residents.
  • Access given upon receipt of AMCAS application.
• $50 USD (non-refundable)
• Select candidates are invited to an interview at the College of Medicine building from mid August to march on a two-week rotation basis.
