• Medical Doctor (MD)
  • 4 years in length
  • First and second year: blocks of coursework outlined by various biological systems and other advanced topics

Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

• All applicants must expect to receive a bachelor's degree before expected matriculation date.
• No major is preferred
  • Applicants educated outside of the United States, must have completed at least 2 full years of study in an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada prior to application.

Required Courses

• Regardless of undergraduate major, all applicants must have completed the following prerequisites prior to the first day of medical school:
  • General Biology (2 semesters or 3 quarters); labs recommended
  • General Chemistry (2 semesters or 3 quarters); labs recommended
  • Organic Chemistry (2 semesters or 3 quarters); labs recommended
  • Physics (2 semesters or 3 quarters); labs recommended
  • English (2 semesters or 3 quarters)
• Recommended Courses
  • Behavioral and Social Science (2 semester or 3 quarters)
  • College Mathematics/Statistics (2 semester or 3 quarters)
  • Microbiology/Immunology (1 semester or 2 quarters)
  • Second Language (conversational proficiency)
• All required courses must be completed at an accredited university or college in Canada or the United States, regardless of prior completion.

GPA

• Required courses for admissions must be completed with a grade of "C"
• Required courses can not be assessed using pass or fail; must receive a letter grade.

Standardized Test

• Minimum MCAT score: 498
• Test must have been written within 3 years of application deadline
  • The September 9th administration is the last exam in 2017 that will be considered for admission in 2018
  • The oldest exams accepted are those from June 2015, thus only the new version of the MCAT is accepted.
  • The highest MCAT score that is received within the past three years will be assessed, however all MCAT scores will be considered.

Interview

• The interview style is Multiple Mini-Interviews (MMI)
  • The applicants rotate between a series of timed mini-interviews or stations in which you will meet individually with an interviewer in a small quiet enclosed room/area.
  • You will interact with each interviewer for seven minutes and then a two minute break between each of the stations.
  • Before each station you will get a prompt or a scenario to think about for two minutes before you enter the room and the interview takes place.
  • Lasts approximately 90 minutes.
• When: The interviews take place between September 2017 and February 2018
• The interview day consists of:
  • Visiting Day of the campus
  • Several opportunities to meet current students, faculty and leadership, as well as curricular and extra-curricular information
  • Multiple mini-interviews (MMI)
• Typical questions or scenarios that focus on critical thinking skills, communication skills, and ethical decision making

• Complete the application through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS), click here for more information.
• Complete the secondary application
• Submit letters of recommendation
• Attend the Multi-Mini Interviews (MMI)
• Wait for a decision to be made by the university.

Timeline

• AMCAS application becomes available: May 2, 2017
• AMCAS submission opens: June 1st, 2017
• Last MCAT exam available for submission cycle: September 9th, 2017
• AMCAS application deadline: November 1, 2017
• Secondary Application deadline (Priority Deadline): November 1, 2017
• Secondary Application deadline (Deadline) with recommendation letters: December 1, 2017
• Multi-Mini Interviews: August 2017-February 2018
• Final decisions will be communicated on a rolling basis between November 2017 through April 2018
• Rejection and wait list notices sent via email: April 2018
