Program Information

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD)
  • 4, 5 or 6 years in length
    • 4/5 years for applicants who have completed an undergraduate degree and have done the MCAT
    • 6 years for applicants who have completed high school and/or some undergraduate courses
  • Class size (Undergraduate Medicine): 36 EU places
  • Class size (Graduate Medicine): 30 EU places
  • Students from North America should apply via the Atlantic Bridge Program

Course and Degree Requirements

  • Degree: Minimum 3 years of undergraduate study in Canada (for 4-year program), some courses completed to enter 6-year program
  • Required Courses (High School)
    • Biology
    • Chemistry
    • Physics
    • Mathematics
  • University candidates are evaluated on an individual basis

  • Minimum scores: There are no cut-off scores established by the University.
  • MCAT must have been written in or prior to the month of April of the year of entry.

Supporting Documents

  • Application form
  • Two letters of recommendation
    • One must be an academic reference from a person that can assess the applicant’s intellecutal capabilities, class performance, etc.
    • The other letter should be from someone who truly knows the applicant and can assess their communication skills, future goals, etc.
    • A committee letter may also be used instead of the letters
  • Official transcripts from all previous institutions attended (High School transcripts are not required for those who have a Bachelor’s degree by September 1st of the year of entry in Medicine).
  • MCAT scores

  • Applicants must write one of the following English Proficiency Exams with the following minimum scores:
1. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL):
  • Paper-based test: 550
  • Computer-based test: 213
  • Internet-based test: 79
2. Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC): 750
3. International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Test Patterns A and B, with a score of 6.0 in every component

Interview

  • Interviews aim to assess the individual’s competencies, such as communication skills, work-life balance, professional goals, etc.
  • Interviews are held every year in New York and Toronto. Other cities are sometimes added.
