Program Information

Curriculum

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD)
  • 4 years in length
    • First half of the program consists of basic science classes on the island of Nevis, while the next 2 years (72 weeks) consist of clinical medicine done at hospitals in the US and Canada

Admissions Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

  • Degree: Minimum 3 years of undergraduate study in Canada (90 semester hours)
    • Students may alternatively enter the Pre-Med program after 2 years of study (60 semester hours)
  • Required Courses
    • General Biology or Zoology (6 credits)
    • Inorganic Chemistry with lab (6 credits)
    • Organic Chemistry with lab (6 credits)
  • Recommended Courses
    • Mathematics (6 credits)
    • Physics (6 credits)
    • English (6 credits)
    • The University also encourages students to take courses in Arts, Social Sciences, Philosophy, Literature and Humanities
  • Important: Students with the following courses are given preference during admissions:

    • Molecular Biology

  • Minimum scores: The University does not have a cut-off, but the MCAT is required for North American students. For other applicants, it is recommended.

  • Two letters of recommendation in which one should be written by someone who can adequately assess the candidates academic strengths and abilities, and the other one from a professor.

    • Semesters 1-5 (Basic Sciences): $13,200.00/semester
    • Semesters 6-10 (Clinical): $15,850.00/semester
    • Pre-medical program (if applicable): $8,000.00/semester
