Course and Degree Requirements

  • Degree: Applicants must complete a minimum of 60 university credits, but it is recommended to complete a bachelor’s degree

  • All applicants must demonstrate reading ability and aural comprehension of both French and English
  • The Admissions Committee seeks that applicants have taken courses that develop critical, analytical, and reasoning skills, as well as strong reading and writing abilities.

  • Minimum grade/GPA: 3.0
  • Average grade/GPA of admitted applicants in 2013: 3.7
  • Calculation method:
    • School details (E.g. Courses completed during the year of entry are not counted towards the GPA/The lowest academic year is not counted/etc.)

  • LSAT is not required, but recommended as it provides extra information on the candidate
  • Minimum score: 152
  • Average LSAT score of interviewed applicants 2013: 163

  • The LSAT must be taken before XX (date) to qualify for this application cycle. Scores older than XX (date) will not be accepted.

    • Personal Statement: two typed pages (single or double spaced), addressing applicant’s interest in law, and specific interest in McGill

    • Final decision from the Comité des équivalences of the Barreau du Québec (Comité des équivalences applicants only)

  • September 1, Admission online application opens

  • December, Latest LSAT testing recommended
  • December-January, First round of offers
  • January, You may be called for an interview (non-CEGEP candidates)
  • March 1, Admission application closes for CEGEP candidates
