Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

  • Applicants are recommended to have completed a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university
  • Required Courses
    • General Biology (excludes Microbiology and Anatomy and Physiology) + lab – one full academic year (6 McGill credits)
    • General or Inorganic Chemistry + lab – one full academic year (8 McGill credits)
    • General Physics + lab – one full academic year (8 McGill credits)
    • Organic Chemistry + lab – one full academic year (8 McGill credits)
    • Biochemistry + recommended lab - one academic term (4 McGill credits)
  • Recommended introductory courses in:
    • Statistics
    • Psychology
    • Sociology
  • Note: AP credits for the required science courses are generally not accepted. Since McGill accepts these, upper year science courses in the same area can be substituted.

Supplementary Requirements

  • MCAT
    • All applicants must finish the MCATs prior to consideration by the admissions committee
    • MCAT scores older than 3 years from date of matriculation are not considered
    • For the 2018 application cycle, the earliest MCAT accepted is taken in 2015.
  • Applicants are required to have prior experience shadowing a physician

Timeline 2017-2018

  • May: Application is available via AMCAS
  • Jun - Aug: Early Decision applications are submitted and completed, including letters of recommendation and supplementary application & fee.
  • 01 Aug: Deadline for submitting the Early Decision Program AMCAS Application.
  • 15 Aug 2016: Deadline for receipt of all Early Decision Program application materials.
  • 01 Oct 2016: Early Decision applicants are notified of the Admissions Committee decision.
  • Jul - Nov AMCAS applications and letters of recommendations are received by the Admissions Office. Invitations to complete the supplementary application are sent via email.
  • 01 Nov: Deadline for submitting the AMCAS application.
  • 15 Nov: Deadline for receipt of all application information, including the supplementary application & fee.
  • Jul-April: Applications are reviewed. Invitations to interviews sent via email.
  • Dec - Jun: Offers of admission are made on a rolling basis.
  • 30 April: Deadline for applicants holding multiple acceptances to withdraw their acceptance from all medical schools except the one to which they plan to enroll.
