Program Information

  • Graduate program in Psychology is largely research-based and is offerd in three campuses: St. George, Mississauga, and Scarborough
  • No clinical program is available
  • Length of program:
    • Master's: one year
    • Doctoral: four years
  • All programs of study are intended to lead towards a PhD degree. Students only interested in a MA degree should not apply.

Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

  • Four-year degree from the University of Toronto or an equivalent degree from another recognized university
  • 6 full year courses (12 semesters) in Psychology, including statistics and laboratory experience
  • Students with strong background in mathematics, physical or biological science, neuroscience, or computer science should apply even if they have taken fewer than the suggested number of psychology courses

  • Minimum A- average in the last two years of undergraduate study

  • Only the General Test is required, not the Subject Test

  • One copy of the official transcript from each university attended
  • Academic interest form
  • Proof of English proficiency (if applicable)
    • TOEFL:
      • PBT: 580 minimum with TWE of 5.0
      • CBT: 237 with Essay Rating of 5.0
    • MELAB: minimum 85
    • IELTS: minimum 7.0

Timeline

  • November 1st: Deadline to submit online application
  • November 15th: Deadline to submit all supporting documents.
    • The application can only be reviewed after all documents are submitted
  • End of March - early April: Applicants are notified of decision

Tuition 2013-2014

  • Domestic students: $6,885
  • International students: $16,082

Funding

  • Minimum level of support is $15,500 plus fees and tuition per year for one MA year and four PhD years
  • This amount is subject to change based on academic and research performance
