Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

  • M.Sc.
    • Degree: Bachelor’s degree
    • Recommended courses: biology, biochemistry, calculus, organic and physical chemistry, general physics, and physiology
  • Applicants may enter the Ph.D. program via one of three routes:
    • following completion of an appropriate MSc degree;
    • transfer from the University of Toronto MSc program; or
    • direct entry after completing a bachelor's degree

  • Average of at least A- in the last two years of study and with the recommended courses listed above

    • Autobiographical essay (1-2 pages, single spaced)
    • A curriculum vitae (CV)
    • At least two confidential letters of reference (preferably from professors)
      • Applicants to the Ph.D. program are required to have a reference letter from the supervisor of their Master's program
    • Electronic or scanned transcripts (with legends & grading scales) from each post-secondary institution attended
    • Arrange to submit English Language Test scores, if applicable (check English Proficiency Requirement for details here)

Fees & Stipend 2018-2019

Each Graduate Supervisor must provide funding at a certain minimum for a period of 5 years, generally coming from the grants to the supervisor, scholarships and competitive awards directly to the student, or from a combination of both (income derived from Teaching Assistantships cannot be counted towards or used to achieve the minimum stipend).
