Program Information

  • Graduate work includes coursework, seminars, and an approved research project
  • Master’s Program (MSc)
    • Thesis-based or Course and practicum-based (Pathologists' Assistant)
    • Maximum of four years
    • Average completion time is 2.7 years
    • Must be full time
  • Doctor’s Program (PhD)
    • Maximum of six years
    • Average completion time is 5 years
    • Must be full time

  • Master’s Program
    • Bachelor’s degree from academic institution recognized by the University of Alberta
  • Doctor’s Program
    • Master’s degree or equivalent from academic institution recognized by the University of Alberta

  • Competitive GPA: 3.5 to 3.6

  • Applicants must find a supervisor that agrees to take the applicant as a student and that has sufficient funding

  • A Completed Research Interests Form
  • Proof of English language proficiency (when applicable)
    • TOEFL (internet based: minimum 95 with at least 20 in each section, paper-based: minimum 570)
    • IELTS (minimum overall of 7.0 with at least 6 on each band)
    • PTE (minimum 65)
    • METLAB (minimum 91)
    • CAEL (minimum 70 with 70 on each subtest)

  • Applications will be accepted any time, however the Graduate program starts either September 1st or January 1st.

Approximations:

    • Course-based M.Sc.: $ 5570 per year
  • International students:
    • Thesis-based M.Sc. and Ph.D.: $ 9250 per year
